About her

Katerina Verbovskaya is a Russian-born concert pianist, performing worldwide with an already impressive resume.

Katerina is a graduate of the Frederic Chopin Music College and the Moscow Conservatory (Prof. Vera Gornostaeva piano division), where she received her Master’s Degree with Honors. From 2014 to 2016, she was a student of Daniel Blumenthal in the Graduate Performance Diploma program at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Belgium, which she graduated with highest distinctions.

She has been awarded grants and scholarships from Guzik Foundation, Orbelyan Foundation, Russian Performing Arts Foundation, International Vladimir Spivakov Charitable Foundation, “New Names” Foundation and Senator’s Foundations. She has performed in masterclasses for Dmitry Bashkirov, Sergei Babayan, Jean-Bernard Pommier and Jorge Luis Prats. Katerina took also part in festivals such as “Flagey Piano Days”, Brussels, Belgium, IMUSE, Belgium and Paphos Chamber Music Festival, Cyprus and many charitable concerts.

She has had many solo and orchestral performances throughout Russia, including the major concert halls of Moscow (Great and Small Halls of the Moscow Conservatory, Rachmaninoff Hall, Moscow International House of Music Great Hall…).

Her recital appearances include Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center; Great Hall of The Bolzano Conservatory; Great Hall and Small Hall of the Royal Brussels Conservatory as well as Concertgebouw Brugge; Ehrbar Salle, Vienna; Educatorio della Provvidenza in Torino…

She has also performed with several symphonic orchestras including the Kaliningrad Philharmonic Orchestra, Chopin College Symphony Orchestra, repeatedly the Pavel Slobodkin Moscow Center’s Chamber Orchestra, the KCB Symphony Orchestra (cond. Norbert Nozy), the Koninklijke Muziekkapel van de Gidsen (cond. Yves Segers) and “Akademos” symfonie van talenten (cond. Marc Sierens).

Her artistry and virtuosity has won her numerous prizes and awards. These include the first Prizes in the 2001 Rachmaninoff Competition and the 2000 Debussy Festival Competition and the 2002 “Young Talents of Russia” Competition, the third Prize in the 2003 International Russia Competition and the fourth Prize in the International Shostakovich Competition. She was the Winner of the Moscow Festival of Romantic Music Award, received a special award at the Neuhaus Festival in Moscow, and won the Diploma for Outstanding Technique at the 11th Delphic Games in Bryansk, Russia.

Internationally she received the Finalist Prize and Adele Hargreaves Woolsey Award in the 2011 Washington International Piano Competition, was the finalist and received a honorable mention in the 2012 International Rosario Marciano Competition in Vienna and in The December 2012 Boston Conservatory Concerto Competition. Also third Prize in the 2014 Treviso 6th International Piano Competition, Italy and first and third prizes in the 2014 Concorso Internazionale di Esecuzione Musicale “Giovani Musicisti”, Italy (chamber music), third Prize in Geertruidenberg Klassiek competition (2017) and Ulvenhart Klassiek Ulvenhart (2018) in The Netherlands, winner of the Guldenberg Klassiek competition 2018, first Prize of Rivierenland Klassiek Finale 2018 (The Netherlands).
